The Nasarawa Police Command on Sunday confirmed that five persons died in the renewed communal crisis in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Umar Ismaila, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lafia.
Umar Ismaila said that the crisis broke
out between the Eggon and Gwandara ethnic groups over a farm land at
Igga in Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area on Saturday.
Umar, however, said that normalcy had been restored in the area following the prompt response of the police to a distress call.
The police spokesman said investigation into the crisis had commenced and urged residents to avoid taking laws into their hands.
He stressed that law enforcement agencies were always on hand and willing to settle all disputes.
